Airfix has really upped their game in the last decade or so and these kits are no exception to that rule. Just beautiful work on all of these Tony. I really like that Walrus as it looks to have A LOT of details.

I really like that Walrus as it looks to have A LOT of details. There is a full interior that is actually pretty visible if you don't fold the wings. I had build pics but can't find them. |

Tried that rigging mularky once.........put me off for life!!
I like the post war colours on the Duck.......i built the Grumman F3F in the same colour scheme.

I avoided subjects that required rigging until I found out about a model railroad product called E Z Line. It is elastic but not a heavy pull so it is very easy to work with. Also far better scale than most threads or wire. |

Good looking batch of builds TC. Those RAF types look quite attractive in their silver schemes. I have that same Glencoe Duck in my stash and have wondered about do I really want to spend the time to build it when I have so many better kits to do in my stash… 🤔 You made it look quite presentable.

It paints up nice and the decals are great. This is one of my quick builds and since I paid a whole $3 for it I didn't change anything. Probably have a grand total of 3 or so hours into the whole thing. It is more weathered than any pre war Marine Corp aircraft would ever be allowed to be but it helps distract from the toy like features. It isn't horrid but the odd scale won't fit in well if you are worried about such things. Makes a nice 4 foot viewing model. If somebody cared enough about the subject matter to really go to town on it it has potential. The interior is almost Aurora like with a couple of lawn chairs, a stick and some random circles thrown on a plate for a panel and that's it. Or at least I think that's it since the canopy is one piece and about 8 scale inches thick so you can't see squat in there anyway. Some detail work inside, a machine gun that doesn't look like a piece of pipe shoved into a block of wood and an open vacuum form canopy would go a long long way.  Some time spent sanding down rivets and fabric rib detail would make a huge difference. The rivets are very obvious on the real thing and the model seems to depict the panels well but they should be a bit more flush. The whole tail is almost a write off on the model as only the moving parts should be fabric and even then the rib detail is subdued. Not to mention the shape of the vertical stabilizer my be great for a WW1 Nieuport it isn't even close to a Duck. The engine cowling has the slope completly backwards (Should be large forward and smaller aft), is way too short even for a dash 2 and is missing the obvious intake above the collector.   The landing gear is simplified in order to work and at first I though it was wrong that you could see through but... Yes you can see through.   Engine is OK for what you see but the prop blades seem a bit small. I rigged this before I learned about EZ Line so it is just wire that bends if you look at it wrong.
